Remember:
Remember not so long ago how the Vatican was always quick to deny having anything pertaining to the Knights Templar. No artifacts, no paperwork, or records, no nothing all they would say is that when Napoleon raided the Vatican they absconded with all the Templar records, leaving nothing? So how is it that some obscure papal historian just happens to find important records pertaining to the fact that the Church never actually condemned the Knights Templar and she has now found more previously thought lost records of the knightly order, so what is left to be uncovered “accidently” and why now. Are we to find out that the Templars were never disbanded and have in fact for the last 700 years been an active order to be used by the Pope for his own reasons without public repercussions, right wrong, who knows, but in the near future I think we will be shown exactly what the Vatican has been hiding and denying, what do you think?

Ah, Master James, what a can of worms you have opened: the worms are called "speculation".
The reason King Philip IV wanted the Templar order disbanded was that he wanted their money. At least, that is the accepted reason. Personally, I believe it also had a lot to do with the fact that King Philip was scared of the Temple Knights - the King wanted his name written in history, and as long as the KT existed, he would only be a minor player in the 14th century.
Was the order disbanded? Yes and no. To the general public, to the political powers, yes, the order was apparently disbanded. To the Church - likely, no. The Knights of the Temple were too important...and we cannot forget about the evidence, circumstantial as it is.
Only a few of the KT were arrested. Thousands escaped persecution, and were rarely spoken of, and then mostly only in their own families. There are some strange symbols that appeared after 1320 that have an apparent connection to the order, but there is no definitive proof one way or the other. Then there is the disappearance of the entire Templar fleet - seemingly overnight.
There are also the 'legends' or 'stories' that everyone thinks they know, yet they only know a small bit of the truth. Included here are the connections to the Sinclair clan, as well as the Douglas clan, the Menteiths, the Chisolmes, the Bruce clan, and the Stewarts. My grandmother used to tell me stories about how one of our ancestors married into the Sinclair family and how they were rich, but they couldn't spend the money. Some research did prove that the family members she spoke of did in fact own large parcels of land, a tobacco plantation, and were instrumental in the early history of the United States. We can find the dates of birth on one side back to 1710, but nothing further on the paternal side. However, the Sinclair line is easily traced. I do know the family name appeared in the early 1200's in France, where there was a Tennille who was a member of the King's court (treasurer?), and donated a large parcel of land and money for the construction of a church.
To return to the subject at hand, what could the reasons for the Church to 'hide' the KT order until the present? We know the Church does not have a military order today, so this cannot be the reason. The treasure? Perhaps - the 'treasure' may be something that was not understood by the Church or by scientists during the middle ages, and only lately technology may have progressed to the point that the 'treasure' can be revealed. Maybe the 'treasure' was the 'New World' - America. Perhaps it is even something as off-the-wall as proof of E.T.
Is there a secret, non-masonic order of Knights of the Temple within the church? Yes...but that is only my opinion.

I have templar ancestors from a marriage of over 200 yrs ago. the ancestors were godfrey st. omer ne st.amand, odo st.amand the 8th grand master of the templars and almeric 1. does this make me a templar by ancestry.
